Theo Pickles
Senior Strength & Conditioning Coach
Theo Pickles is a high-performance Strength and Conditioning Coach with over 20 years of experience working across elite and Olympic sport. Throughout his career, Theo has contributed to 17 Olympic medals across rowing, swimming, and track and field, supporting athletes at the highest level of international competition.
He has worked across a wide range of sports including cricket, rugby, swimming, equestrian, ice hockey, rowing, and athletics, and has supported both developing and world-class performers. This includes working with Olympic and World Champion Nina Kennedy in pole vault.
Internationally, Theo has held roles with the Netherlands Olympic swimming and rowing programs, and more recently has worked at the Western Australian Institute of Sport (WAIS) with rowing and athletics. His coaching approach blends evidence-based practice with practical application in high-pressure performance environments.
Theo specialises in tendon health, velocity-based training, and the integration of technology to augment decision-making and optimise training outcomes. His work focuses on building resilient, durable athletes while ensuring strength and power development transfers effectively to performance.
Outside of coaching, Theo still enjoys training in the gym and spending time with his family and dog. A former avid rugby player, he now accepts that enthusiasm has outlasted durability — a reality that continues to shape his appreciation for smart, sustainable training.
