Lever Bodyweight Support System
Run with less impact. Recover with confidence.
Whether you're returning from injury or looking to take your running performance further, the Lever Bodyweight Support System helps you move with less impact.
Using a supportive body harness and suspension frame, the system gently reduces the amount of body weight you carry while walking or running on a treadmill. This reduces impact through your lower limbs, allowing you to build strength, movement and fitness while managing the load on your body.
How does it work?
The Lever system supports a portion of your body weight, making walking and running feel lighter and more comfortable.
-
Adjustable bodyweight support: Reduce your effective body weight by up to 20 kg, depending on your needs.
-
Reduced impact: Decrease loading through your joints, bones, muscles and tendons.
-
Natural movement: Maintain a natural walking or running technique while receiving support.
-
Controlled progression: Gradually increase the amount of weight you carry as your body adapts.
Your Physio or Exercise Physiologist will help determine the appropriate level of support and progression for your goals.

How do we progress your training?
Your Lever sessions are tailored to your injury, fitness, and goals. As your body adapts, we gradually reduce the level of bodyweight support.
Phase 1 – Reintroduce movement
Start with greater bodyweight support to help rebuild confidence and tolerate running or walking with less impact.
Phase 2 – Build consistency
Gradually reduce support and increase the duration of your running sessions.
Phase 3 – Develop capacity
Continue building running volume, speed and aerobic fitness with less assistance.
Phase 4 – Return to full loading
Transition towards running at your full body weight as you work towards your rehabilitation or performance goals.
What to expect during a session
Your session begins with an assessment and setup by your Physiotherapist or Exercise Physiologist.
-
Get fitted: You'll be fitted with a supportive body harness.
-
Set your support level: Your Exercise Physiologist will adjust the system to provide the right amount of bodyweight support.
-
Start moving: Walk or run on the treadmill while your movement and comfort are monitored.
-
Progress at your pace: Your support level and training intensity can be adjusted as you improve.
Is Lever right for you?
Lever is a useful option for people who need to manage the impact of walking or running while maintaining movement and fitness.
An initial assessment with our Physio or Exercise Physiologist will help determine whether the system is suitable for you and how it can be incorporated into your rehabilitation or training plan.
Suitability is assessed individually. Medical clearance may be required before commencing reduced-weight-bearing exercise, particularly following surgery or a bone stress injury.
